My name is Maithili Sagar, CEO and founder of KinderPass. And today, I’m thrilled to finally reveal what my team and I have been working on for the last year. But before I go into the what, allow me to explain the why.
The KinderPass Mission
You see, KinderPass represents a mission that’s been on my mind for years. My parents founded the Kinderville group in Canada in 1990, and it soon expanded to become the leading provider of early childcare in the country.
Throughout my adult life, I assisted my family in running centers, overseeing operations, and generally helping solve the daily challenges of multisite daycare organizations. It sometimes felt just as chaotic as a pre-kindergarten art class (even if nobody was eating the playdough!)
However, I quickly realised something primordial: the more streamlined the operations were, the better the centers became.
Giving staff the right tools meant they could focus on the children. The quality of the education improved, delighting parents and families. Owners who were unburdened by repetitive admin tasks could take control of the business side of things.
In short, simpler tools meant happier childcare.
How KinderPass Started
My parents’ centers had a simple cloud-based management tool in place. It offered basic messaging and accounting functionalities, amongst others. In fact, they were rather innovative for the time, moving their operations on the cloud as early as 1996.
While the system was upgraded numerous times over the years, I felt it could do with an extra push. I decided to leave my job as Senior Product Manager at Amazon to build on the proprietary software and turn it into KinderPass.
Today, KinderPass is now a complete end-to-end solution that allows centers to move and run all their operations online, from a simple dashboard. You can take control of your admin, finances and reporting, all in one place.
Moreover, the KinderPass app offers flexible productivity tools to your staff and educators, and allows parents to be more engaged with their children’s education. As a mother once told me while dropping off her children at a center: “My child loves it here, and I’d love to see what she does all day.” This is exactly who the KinderPass app is for.
KinderPass Beta – What Next?
KinderPass is currently being piloted in several childcare centers. I am extremely excited to see it used in a real-life environment, where the team will be able to iron out the kinks, test new features, and improve the general stability. The first fully public version of KinderPass will be available in spring.
Before that, we have opened the Beta programme to more childcare centers around the world. A few locations have already been selected in the US, UAE and India, but anyone will be able to apply. Seats are limited, but this will be a fantastic opportunity for you to start using KinderPass for free while we gather your feedback.
